Construction"My canoes and kayaks use only the very best, most resistant materials" - VK
▲Steve - Ultimate Canoe Challenge The expedition weight Kruger Canoes are made with multiple layers of DuPont Kevlar 49 fabric. We use a special high-impact vinyl ester resin (Derakane) with exceptional adhesive and crack-resistant properties. This has proven to be a great resin as it has seen much use and abuse in all of Verlen's travels. "These are the same materials and the same construction as my 28,000 mile Loon but I have included even more reinforcements at points of wear and for more stiffness where needed -- up to 22 layers of Kevlar are used!" A rope of Kevlar strands is glassed into the curve and rise of both the bow and stern -- making the ends of the canoe log-jumping, rock-splitting tough! The deck and rim are molded in one piece. Then the hull and deck are strongly bonded together with 3 layers of Kevlar.
All Kruger Canoes are made as tough and durable as possible. Flotation foam is poured in the ends to keep the boat afloat in case of capsize. RudderThe rudder is extra rugged, constructed of heavy duty tempered aluminum alloy and stainless steel. Put together by hand.
